Our Teen Girls Project provides sanitary packs for local girls, including information, menstrual products and underwear, as well as funding further training in personal hygiene, sexual and reproductive health for adolescent girls and boys.

Adolescence brings new challenges for young people, particularly in communities where access to basic resources, healthcare and education can be limited. For some girls, something as simple as not having reliable access to menstrual products and suitable underwear can mean missing school and other everyday activities during their periods.

Starlight Family works to help remove these barriers by providing menstrual products and practical support to teenage girls within our local communities.

Our work goes beyond meeting immediate needs. We provide age-appropriate wellbeing, relationships and sexual health education for both girls and boys, helping young people to understand their bodies, make informed choices, develop healthy relationships and reduce the risks associated with sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy.

We also want young women to have every opportunity to continue their education and develop the skills they need for adulthood. Through education, vocational skills and practical support, our longer-term aim is to help young people build greater independence and create opportunities for themselves.

Where a young person is already a parent, our focus is on support rather than judgement. We aim to help young parents continue their education or training, develop practical and occupational skills, and build greater security for themselves and their children.
